Although cool neutral undertones are looking to stay trending for the time being, there has been a slight shift or disruption to the trend, and that is the revival of bold and vibrant colors. Many major paint would agree. PPG’s 2023 color of the year, pictured left, Vining Ivy 1148-6, is a great example of how bold colors can really elevate the room. Let’s look elsewhere. The ever popular Pantone chose Viva Magenta as their clear winner. The bold heavy saturated crimson color dares you to be adventurous. Benjamin Moore, a popular home paint brand, says Raspberry Blush will breakthrough this year. Its saturated reddish-orange hue is a perfect blend of natural yet bold. Sherwin Williams picked Redend Point (pictured below) as their color of the year, a balance between neutral beige and a rosy blush.
Color experts are saying that this uptick in bold vibrant colors will continue to grow. Homeowners are starting to become more bold in their choices of colors. In our business, we‘re starting to see more homeowners wanting accent walls. Besides the usual dark forest greens and the navy blues, we’ve been seeing bolder choices, and it’s working. When you make a wall an accent, it automatically becomes a statement. An art piece of its own. Paired with accent home decors, such as throw pillows, blankets, or fine art pieces. It becomes the center of attention to a room. We’re even seeing some of our interior designers we work with choosing a color for an entire room, baseboards, crown molding, and ceiling included!
